Stayed at Lesley's property with some friends for a fishing trip on Rutland Water. Property was very clean & spacious and suited our needs perfectly. Lovely outside space and views as well but unfortunately the weather was terrible during our stay so didn't get to enjoy these as much as we would've liked. Would definitely stay again next time we are down.

We had a wonderful week at America Lodge. The house is spacious and the countryside around it is stunning. My children loved feeding the chickens and collecting eggs. Lesley is a wonderful host and she looked after us very well. Even with Covid restrictions we had lovely outings in the local area. We loved America Lodge. Thank you so much, Lesley. Zuzana

What an amazing find - location was ideal- loved being surrounded by fields and could run/cycle from our doorstep each morning on the trails. (Hardly any time on the road before joining up with the Rutland water paths). The house itself was bigger than I thought and perfect for two families of 4. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Very nice. Surrounded by rolling farm lands - wonderful setting really. House is equally enjoyable. Spacious, clean and comfortable. Very helpful host - with arranging the barbecue and the egg collection for the kids. Very good break for us. Thank you Lesley.

America Lodge is a wonderful place to stay with all you could need for a break in the countryside. There is loads to do on your doorstep and you have a great place to return to after a day out and about exploring.

Lesley's place is great! Good distance from local amenities and things to do but with plenty of privacy as well. The house itself is really homely and offers a great space for families. It works well for young children and dogs as well. Highly recommend!

A lovely house with character set in a peaceful and secluded location. Lots of space for everyone. All equipment was provided in the kitchen to cook everything from an English breakfast to a roast dinner for 10. Lesley was very attentive, popping round each morning to make sure we was ok. Would recommend this house and would definitely stay again.

We had a great weekend at America lodge. There was plenty of space for us to spread out and the views were stunning. Lesley was very helpful and even let us collect some eggs from the chicken coop! The outside temperature was 2 degrees but the lodge was very warm and we enjoyed lighting the log fire. We fell in love with Stamford and Oakham and had a quick walk around part of Rutland water. Great place for a reunion.

What a lovely house in an absolutely stunning location. Lesley was attentive and helpful and kept us well informed before we arrived and visited the property daily during our stay. A little maintenance is needed to bring the house to perfection but we would recommend it as a base to explore Rutland.

We really enjoyed our stay at America Lodge, the farmhouse is huge and secluded. Kitchen has everything you need and a big table perfect for family meals. The area was great for walking and my daughter loved feeding the chickens and exploring the woods. Lesley is a great host and we look forward to returning.

We went to American Lodge for a family gathering for my mum's 80th birthday. The house is well equipped with a lovely big kitchen table which we all fitted around. Very private house but near to amenities. Tesco delivered our food. We had a lovely walk and enjoyed the log fire in the lounge.

A lovely warm and welcoming house in a stunning location - just the ticket for a large group of friends reunion like ours. An excellent selection of kitchen equipment with a good range of pans available (always a plus when cooking for large groups)…. the knives could do with a sharpen though! Lesley was very easy to deal with - great communication and a top host.

Great location close to town of Oakham which has lots of good takeaways. Place is very spacious and kitchen with large table is perfect for a large group. Good area for dogs. Loved our stay.

We had a great time at America Lodge for new year. The property comfortably slept six adults and three children with plenty of communal space inside and out. I’d recommend to anyone looking for a quiet comfortable retreat that’s in comfortable driving distance of local facilities.

This farmhouse is such a lovely relaxing place to stay. There were 8 of us and 2 dogs and we had loads of space. The house was clean, well equipped, cosy and warm. It is not a show home with expensive crockery, etc, so you don't feel on edge that you might break something or get a little dirt somewhere! It was perfect for active families, we did a great local walk from the house and also cycled at Rutland Water which is a 15 minute drive. A perfect stay and we will be returning later this year. Lovely farmhouse! Had expected it to be a bit draughty being out there mid December but was lovely and toasty!! Had the fire going one night and it was absolute bliss! The house itself is clean and spacious, and everything we needed had been provided. The location is excellent, no light pollution meant hours of star gazing, and no noise pollution provided excellent calm country walks. A lovely little retreat.

Lesley was kind and responsive and the place was exactly what we were after. A nice quiet farm cottage with the mod cons, the photos of the private garden area do not do it justice. Lesley provides top quality meat and eggs from the farm and the log fires were something the whole party enjoyed. We hope to return and enjoy the wonderful surroundings again

We loved our stay at Lesley’s. Her home was perfectly as described - nothing ‘fancy’, but the perfect home from home. Lesley was really accommodating and friendly, and the house had everything we needed. As a group of 8 guests, there was enough space for socialising but also the perfect setting for some quiet time. The house was clean and fully equipped. We will be back!

We have just spent a fantastic bank holiday weekend at America Lodge, a comfortable and spacious farmhouse surrounded by rolling hills. The location of the lodge is incredible and we made full use of the garden. There were 8 of us staying (4 adults, 4 kids) and there was ample space for us all. The bedrooms all had plenty of storage and the kitchen table was fantastic to eat and to play games at!! Rutland itself is a beautiful county and we made the most of the incredible weather and spent most of our weekend at rutland water. We ate at The Noel near Whitwell for lunch which was delicious and used the Rutland Balti house in Oakham for a takeaway which was really good (there is a menu in the dresser drawer!!). It was a perfect location for 2 families who live at opposite ends of the country (Leeds and Ipswich) to meet in the middle!! Thank you Lesley!!

We came here 8 years ago pre-kids and always meant to return. This time we had 5 kids between 3 families and it was just as good. The kids loved being able to go outside to play building dens and the parents loved the fact that the tiled area meant that mud in the house wasn't a problem.
The house is near Oakham, which is worth a visit, and there is a great pub at Braunston which is within walking distance.Posted on

A real gem! We have just had a family get together at the lodge which included adults and children. The lodge is perfect being both comfortable and spacious which a huge kitchen. The rural location was perfect for exploring with the children. We all enjoyed ourselves and are talking about visiting again .
Lesley was very kind and understanding when family arrived late due to a long journey and traffic conditions. She popped by on Saturday morning and had a lovely chat with my mother in law .

Just returned from a family reunion at America Lodge. The rustic farmhouse was warm and comfortable and we really appreciated the log fire and very efficient central heating when the weather was cold and wet. Lesley was an excellent host and was there to welcome us and answer any questions we had.

This was our fifth stay at America Lodge! It's great for families to sit around the huge kitchen table or in front of the open fire in the lounge. Every time we come to Rutland we find new things to do!

Quite a quirky farmhouse and a great place for a multi-generational Christmas holiday. It's very spacious and we loved the log fires - which we really appreciated when the snow fell and the temperatures plummeted. Lovely rural setting. Great quality meat and bacon from Lesley's farm.
